Run The Bends Marathon

This is a great course for your first TRAIL run! Elevation is minimal, approximately 400 ft. of rolling hills throughout the loop. Trails are a mixture of dirt/blacktop, single/wide track, switching back and forth between trail surfaces to keep you from getting bored 🙂  Approximately 5 miles blacktop trails, 7 miles dirt trails. This course is not certified all distances/elevation are measured by RDs Garmin watch. See break down under course description.

**NOTE: 2017 race was a 10 mile loop = 50k, 20 mile, 10 mile in June. Race was moved to November and due to less daylight was changed to a Marathon and Half Marathon.

START/FINISH: Hickory Grove Pavilion

COURSE: all distances/elevation measured from RD Garmin watch! Not Certified, trails cannot be certified.
Loop (13.1 miles) is a mixture of dirt and blacktop trails, ( single & wide track ).
There will also be a small portion of Rail Road tracks, not rails for trails REAL TRACKS. No worries about a train coming through while on the tracks, they haven’t been used in years!!!
Full Marathon = 2 loops… total elevation approximately 800 ft.
Half Marathon = 1 loop… total elevation approximately 400 ft.

  • .40 = grass / single dirt ( boy scout trail )

CUTOFF: Marathon and Half Marathon have a 8 Hour time Limit.
* Marathon must start second loop by… 12:30pm (strict)

RACE DAY PACKET PICK UP:
River Bends Park @ Start/Finish area = 7:00 – 8:15 am

TIMING: Pull tag system.

  • Pin bibs in front
  • Do not pin the bottom removable bottom portion
  • Bottom will be given to volunteer @ finish

AWARDS: Top 3 finishers male/female for each distance.

AID STATIONS: Per Loop

  1. Aid Station = .80 and 2.8 mile: Water, Gatorade, EGel, Pickles and Fruit. Porta Potty 
  2. Aid Station = 7.0 mile: Water only
  3. Aid Station = 9.0 mile: Water, Gatorade, EGel, Pickles and Fruit. Porta Potty

** Marathon will have an aid station @ Start / Finish 13.1 mile = Water, Gatorade, EGel, Pickels and Fruit.

DROP BAGS: At start/finish area.
*parking lot 100 ft from start/finish , so you will have access to your car!!
